Realtek driver issue during text installer

Postby picasso566 » Sun Jul 15, 2007 8:17 am

Trying to install win xp keep getting this message

file WINXP_SYS\RTL8139.sys caused an unexpected error (21) at line 3788 in d:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\setup.c

press any key to continue

I have attempted to use diffirent XP Pro versions/builds/SP Deployments with no change except the line number of the error. I also attempted deployments after adding the precise driver from Realtek to the BINL. No success. Anyone figure out a fix for this issue?

(Installing on a Fujitsu P1120 Lifebook, no floppy or CD-Rom FTW!)

Hi,

This guy at http://www.promodus.net/linuxris seems to experience the same problem, would you be able to do some editing in the /etc/tftpd.map file?

You should add something like:

rgi RTL8139.SY_ UNKNOWN
rgi RTL8139.SYS rtl8139.sys

Looks like it is a problem with the case-sensitivity of the filename...
Check out the tftpd log to check for errors there!

Please post the contents of the binl and tftp logfiles (actually only the stuff around the time you had the problem...)

* Services->binl->View Log...
* Services->tftp->View Log...

The binl logfile should show the client presenting an Identification stringt of your network card to the UDA and the the UDA responding with the driver file name required for that network card.

The tftplog should show the client trying to retreive the driver file name, and the tftp daemon remapping the filename to a filename that makes sense to the UDA. Once the filename is remapped the tftpd daemon tries to find that file on the filesystem and give it back to the client. I'm expecting that to fail in this case.

Cyril,

Please check if there is a file:
/var/public/tftproot/WINXP_SYS/rtl8139.sys
on your UDA. Make sure it has exactly that name (including the same capitals and lower-case letters!)

Please post the lines from the messages file around the line you have posted (it should say something like: File not Found (NAK) if the file was not found or nothing if the file was serverd correctly to the client. In that last case I also need the lines preceeding the one you have posted (You need to know the exact case of the original request.)

Re: Realtek driver issue during text installer

Can you clarify on this?
I've tried adding that to it. Is there a command I have to run afterwards? Does it require a reboot?

EDIT:

For future reference, just run

mv /var/public/tftproot/WINXP_SYS/rtl8139.sys /var/public/tftproot/WINXP_SYS/RTL8139.sys
